Global Maps ring of fire map
This new global map, left, is an Azimuthal Equidistant projection of the globe that illustrates where the Seismological slang, "ring of fire", originates from. The black lines are the global faults, the red spots locate recent earthquakes. Note how most fall on the black lines, and the fault lines predominately form a ring. Clicking on the map, left, will display a larger version that shows locations of all >5 magnitude Earthquakes worldwide for the year to date.
